Four times a year we feature "Our Old Roads" and stories ranging from the earliest settlers to the current efforts to preserve and renovate our county's architectural treasures. We restore and mark historical sites and landmarks and present material relative to the history of the upcountry that became Greenwood in 1897. For several years, Aiken edited the Rural Carolinian, a magazine published monthly from 1869-1876 devoted to bringing the South Carolina farmer into the mainstream of agricultural progress.

Context Explanation

Stony Point is a historic home located near Greenwood, Greenwood County, South Carolina. It was built between 1818 and 1829, and is a two-story, five bay, brick dwelling. May 17, 2016 ยท After the Civil War, Greenwood slowly gained population and new businesses. It became a bustling railroad town, with passenger and freight trains steaming through a village served by three railroads by 1890.
